This describes the point of the way language can effect an entire story. She ends every story with “ everything continues as in A.” In part A there is basic plot and summary but in the other stories there is more elaboration and the telling of how and why everything led up to the plot, summary of part A. ![]() The author also makes a point to use repetition in the story. However the real literature strays away from the usual ways of thinking and creates its own beauty by using different words and phrases. Even though there may not be a complete structure and stability in the works, there is something beautiful in the words that explains the entire story. Some people think that by creating the usual plot and summary that it is appealing to people and can be called literature. Mary’s life can be used as a metaphor for literature. John is a man with a “respectable job and is getting ahead in his field, but Mary is not impressed with him…” Instead, “Mary is in love with James”, a man who is not financially stable. Some think that the money will help them get the women and allow them to have these great lives. In the story, the authors portrays the characters as having only having money to be successful. The author,Margaret Atwood, makes this point by the money struggle of the characters and the repetition of words. The unifying theme of "Happy Endings" is that literature is not about plot and summary but about the beauty of writing. ![]()
